5 March 2009 - The Champion of the Champions prize at the International Jewellery Design Excellence Award (IJDE), which debuted last night at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, went to local designer Joey Cheung Lai Yee for "Eternity Blooming."

The "Splendour of Jewels" was the theme of last night's IJDE Award presentation ceremony, which took place at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Among those attending the gala were Fred Lam, Executive Director, HKTDC; Dorian Ho, fashion designer; Stephen Chan, General Manager, TVB; and Jean M Wong, Principal, Jean M Wong School of Ballet.

The IJDE Award is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths' Association, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China.

The IJDE Award selections were made by a distinguished panel of international judges: Lawrence Ma, Chairman, HKTDC Jewellery Advisory Committee; Carol Woolton, Jewellery Editor, UK Vogue; Kan Tai Keung, designer, Hong Kong; Jean-François Michaud, jewellery consultant, Switzerland; Joseph Hasbani, Partner, Hasbani Gioielli, Italy; Emma Checkley, specialist, Jewellery Department, Christie's UK; Wallace Chan, jewellery designer, Hong Kong; Yao An, Vice-Director, Capital Museum, Chinese mainland; and Maŕia E Girón, Founder and Partner, MEGAMCAPITAL and MEGADVISE, Spain.
